It had been a week since Toph had come out to her friends. Zuko merely grunted when he heard. Sokka was Sokka-overreacting, then being really cool about it. Aang was confused at what she was talking about, but when Sokka told him, he merely nooded and returned to playing with Momo.
Katara, however…Toph had been surprised at her reaction. The young waterbender’s eyes went wide, and she turned away, blushing. Toph could feel her breath quicken and she could feel her heartbeat increase. Toph waas curious, but she did not press the matter.
Since her confession, things remained mostly the same, although Katara blushed and stuttered every time she talked to Toph. Finally, after this had happened, Sokka went to Zuko.
“You don’t think my sister is scared of gay people…do you?”
Zuko stood up and flashed a rare smile. “No, I don’t think that’s it at all.” He then left, leaving a very confused warrior.
Sokka grew very confused, so finally, he ended up confronting Katara.
“What’s with you Katara?” His sister merely looked at him.
“What are you talking about?”
“Toph!” Sokka exclaimed. “You’ve been acting really weird since she came out!”
Kitara blushed. “W-What do you mean? I-I haven’t been different!”
“Yes you have! You get all stuttery and blush when she’s around!”
Katara looked around for an excuse, but she was saved by a voice. “Drop it.”
Sokka whirled around, pulling out his boomerang. “Oh, Toph! But…”
“I said DROP IT!” Toph stamped the ground, and a pillar of rock hit Sokka from the side. He went airbourne, and landed, unconscious, a few feet away.
“T…Toph!” Katara exclaimed, blushing.
“Katara…I’ll get right to the point. As Sokka said, you’ve been acting differently around me.”
Katara turned away. “You don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Don’t talk down on me, Katara,” Toph glared. “I know you’re lying. You breathe faster, your heartbeat increases. I’ve felt this before.”
“W-what do you m-mean?!?”
“Denial still?” Toph smiled, then a hint of red highlighted her cheeks. “Let’s try this, then.” She approached Katara, and put her small hands on Katara’s slender shoulders.
“T-Toph! What are you–” Her words were cut short by the Earthbender’s lips on her own. Katara’s eyes went wide and she turned beet red, then she closed her eyes and returned the kiss, wrapping her arms around Toph. One of her hands wormed its way through the blind girl’s silky hair, and she pulled Toph closer. Said girl slipped her tongue into Katara’s mouth, and it intertwined with Katara’s.
After a few minutes, Toph broke the kiss, leaving Kitara in a daze. “This trip just got a whole lot more…meaningful” She whispered into the brunette’s ear. Then she ran off to play with Appa, going past Sokka, who was just regaining consciousness.

A week later, everyone was sitting around a campfire which Aang and Zuko had bended. Everyone but Sokka knew about the two girls’ relationship, and Sokka was still quite confused. Suddenly, he saw love bites peeking out from under Katara’s necklace.
“H-Hickeys?! Katara…are you going out with Aang?!” Sokka glared suspiciously at the young avatar.
“Of course not!” Sokka then turned to Zuko.
“Then…ZUKO!. Are YOU dating my sister?!” He pulled out a magnifying glass, trying to find similar marks on the former fire prince’s neck. Zuko raised an eyebrow.
“Get off of me,” he whispered ominously.
“What the heck is going on?!” Sokka asked. He then noticed that Toph and Katara were holding hands. “WHAT THE?!” he exclaimed. Then he fainted dead away.
Katara and Toph merely smiled and kissed, the firelight flickering across their faces.
